Embracing Generations is a branch of Foster 180 dedicated to supporting grand families — grandparents and older relatives who are raising foster and kinship children later in life. These caregivers often step in during moments of crisis, carrying the weight of parenting again while navigating aging, fixed incomes, health concerns, and complex systems alone. Embracing Generations exists to ensure they are not overlooked, isolated, or unsupported. At the heart of Embracing Generations is community collaboration.
In our cohort, Generations, we partner with Jimmy Floyd Family Center, JustServe, FAM Essentials, and other aligned organizations to host quarterly events designed specifically to serve and uplift aging caregivers. These gatherings provide:
-
Practical resources
-
Connection to community services
-
Relief, encouragement, and dignity-centered support
-
A sense of belonging for caregivers who often feel invisible
Our goal is not just to meet immediate needs, but to create consistent touchpoints of care and connection for this population.
As-Needed Care
In addition to quarterly events, Embracing Generations offers limited as-needed support when specific needs arise. This may include:
-
Helping locate community resources
-
Coordinating volunteers to meet a practical need
-
Connecting caregivers with organizations equipped to provide specialized assistance
Support is responsive, relational, and tailored—because no two families are the same.
